She taught for eighteen months after leaving school at St Joseph's Convent, St Joseph and left in preference for a job in accounts in the private sector. She became an active community worker after marriage and kept a link with the school through the Old Hilarians. She still finds time to make herself available to the present students at the school. |
DANILLE PRIMEYoungest HilarianDanille Prime's ambition is to become a pediatrician. She was born to David and Leonie Prime on September 4th, 1984. A pleasant and contented baby, Danille has become a pleasant, independent, well-disciplined and amiable young Hilarian. At Briggs Preparatory School, under the tutelage of another distinguished Hilarian, Msr Esme Briggs, working in conjunction with a home and a family in which God is the focal point, Danille was Victrix Ludorum for both middle and upper school as well as the recipient of the Creative Writing and Best All Round student awards. Among Danille's accomplishments has also been her ability to master the tenor pan. She joins here with the oldest living Hilarian to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Bishop Anstey High School |
Miss Pierre, first Trinidadian and West Indian to have completed the Bachelor of Music four-year degree from the University of Toronto, Canada. Holder of ARCT & LTCL diplomas from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto and Trinity College of London, she taught music at the San Juan and Diego Martin Government Schools. Miss Pierre was involved in the Music Festival for several years, was a founding member of the Recital Club, and contributed to the steelband movement through her involvement with Merrytones Steel Orchestra as their conductor from 1982 - 1990. Miss Pierre is a retired Curriculum Officer II (music) and was awarded the Humming Bird medal (Gold ).
Mrs Bodden Ritch, a former student of Joyce Spence, studied music at the Royal Academy of Music, London on a West Indian Scholarship from the Associated Board of Royal School of Music. Mrs Bodden Ritch specialises in accompaniment and has played for many local choirs and artists including well known Sandra Browne, Jill Gomez, Monica Ortiz and Hyacinth Nichols, to name a few. She is an Official Accompanist of the T & T Music Festival and a former Deputy Conductor, Deputy Musical Director and Official Repetiteur of the National Opera Co-operative. She has performed with Catelli All Stars Steel Orchestra in Trinidad & Tobago and Canada. In 1991, she was honored with the President's Award for Creativity in the Arts at the President Honor Performance.
Dawn was born to a musical family and has been involved with and in Caribbean culture from Best Village Group to the Steelpan (her first love). Over the years she has been involved with the cultural arts movement as performer, arranger, conductor, teacher, judge, composer, musical director and producer. She has toured Europe and North America and participated in international events such as Sports Aid and organizing the steelband portion for Quincy Jones/David Salzman Productions for the gala concert for the heads of state at the Summit of the Americas. Dawn co-ordinated two international expositions on the Steelband, Pan into the 21st Century 1 and 11, held at the North-South Centre of the University of Miami in April 1994 and 1995. Her goal is to promote the culture of T & T internationally and show the possibilities of using culture as an economic force for national development.
Founder and principal of the Pan Pipers Music School in St Augustine, and Holder of the ARCM from the Royal College of Music, London, she has been arranging for the steelband since 1966 and has conducted successfully at "Pan is Beautiful" I, II, & III competitions, reaching the finals on all occasions. Miss McIntosh represented Trinidad & Tobago with Pan Pipers in 1985 at a Non-aligned Youth Festival in New Delhi, India.
