It is great to see that we have a presence on the web. I just searched on a whim not expecting to find anything. Looking forward to hearing from some of my old classmates.

It's just great to see so many fellow Hilarians visiting this site. It seems we can't help but miss the place where most of us spent some of our very best days.

Graduated some months ago from a wonderfully unique and life changing interdisciplinary programme at Regent College, Vancouver with Masters and Diploma in Christian Studies. (Took me seven years with intermittant study, between work) Wrote stories for an Arts Thesis which will be published as a book - and have lots of other manuscripts - poems and stories for children and more, making their way to publishers. Still lead a life of adventuring, writing and travel with my treasured husband Charlie. Our recent sojourn has taken us driving from Vancouver in the west to Cape Breton in the east with summer camp work in Pennsylvania and fruit picking in Nova Scotia in between in the beautiful and cornocopic Annapolis Valley. We are rich in love and stories and wonderful friends, including some treasured schoolmates met along the way. We hope to head home very soon from our present location in Toronto and work there (Charlie is from Barbados but loves Trinidad)...I'm still writing and savouring being in touch with many friends. An environmental education book done for UNESCO Trinidad for a regional high school workshop a couple years ago (of course with inspiration and advice from Miss Ruddell!!!) has recently been re-published by UNESCO Paris and is being put to use in the Wider Caribbean. Meant for the purpose of environmental education it also includes stories, poems and songs, photography and beautiful line drawings and is interdisciponary and creative in nature. It is named "Glimpses of the Blue Caribbean." My class of '74 O'levels,'76 A's is very strong in solidarity with each other and we have met regularly over the years for meaningful reunions - including the remembrance of an unusually high number of classmates and friends who have died in saddening ways. We treasure the lives we have. Please note my new e-mail address. Warmly, Joy.

Would love to hear from anyone who attended Bishop Anstey from 1970-1972. My mother, brother and I lived in Trindidad (moved from Syracuse, NY) from 1970-71, and I lived with Ms. Umilta and Ms. Elsie McShine during my second year there.

I just want to say thanks to all of my teachers, especially Ms. Ruddell for believing in me and as a result allowing me to accomplish my dream of being apart of the United States Air Force. I am currently stationed in Mc Connell Air Force base in Wichita, Kansas, and I would be moving to Cadena, Japan in July of 2001 God's willing for a new assignment. One of these days, I hope to return to my good, old Bishop's.

Thank you Hilarians for sharing your memories on this site!! Sometime last year I shared that I had met Miss Shrewsbury, the second principal of BAHS. I visited her again today. She lives in Auckland, New Zealand. She is doing quite well at 96. She has fond memories of her years at BAHS and of course lots of stories. I'll continue to visit her occasionally while I am in New Zealand. If anyone wants more details, feel free to contact me.

Just wanted to send you a couple of pictures of my graduating class of 1974 and 1976. The first black and white photo was actually taken in 1973 whilst the other pictures are from our sixth form years. As I look at these, they bring back such fond memories, especially with Pat Ruddell. In particular, I'm sure many of us Geography girls will remember the Geography field trip to Grenada under the watchful eye of "Miss Ruddell"! Best regards Diane Chai nee Marchack (now mother of 4 boys and settled in Singapore)

I have just accessed the website after my first hit about 14 months ago, and realized that my graduating class of 1960 will be celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. I shall be in TnT December 20, 2000 through January 2, 2001. Is there anyone out there interested in a ladies gathering at our favorite hotel or restaurant or some other uncomplicated celebration, given this short notice? Is anyone planning any thing? I live in Naperville, IL and might even be interested in celebrations in North America. I run into a fair number of former Hilarians from time to time but see only two or three from my graduating class. Anyone interested?

Technology is really a hell of a thing. I am so very pleasantly surprised. Hi to all graduates of 81 and 83. I can't believe that Beverly Hinds, Angela Workman Hinds, Judy-Ann Roberts Griffith, Mandy Laurence, Sharon Legall and others with whom I communicate did not tell me about this wonderful site. Hats off to the creator of the site.

My visit was accidental, but my stay long! My mother, Thelma Noel nee Brathwaite, is one of the thousands of 'Women of Worth' whom you could not include because of lack of space, etc. She was the first of three generations of our women to attend, as my sister, Joan Olivier nee Noel attended and and my brothers (Jesse and Peter) both had their daughters all attend Jasmine, Jennifer Joanne and Samantha Noel. Bishops' gave to my mother a world view and a confidence that she instilled in all her children and, together with her husband Victor Noel made a contribution to their nation and to their children which we will never forget. Congratulations to a marvellous institution.

Didn't know how homesick I was until I heard that there was a website tonight from Natalie Young Pong. It's been 10 years since I left Bishops and Trinidad. I've spent two hours just reading about names and buildings I recognized and it has made my day.
For those trying to reach my sisters, who are also Hilarians, they can be reached at: Karen Joy Williams (Kaestner)1978 - 1983 kjk2129@juno.com Debra Patricia Williams (Figueroa) 1977 - 1983 babyzach@mindspring.com
There are only two points that I really need to make:
1)Class of '90 (O Levels) (and '92 - A Levels), we NEED to have a reunion! I'll even help from way up here.
2)After reading the guestbook, let me say that this debate over the use of proper English vs. slang is unproductive. The real issue is that we know both and understand when to use them because there is a time and place for everything. I would like to believe that BAHS ladies live purposeful lives. So, when we speak, our main goal is to communicate. Clearly, the art of communication encompasses more than words and diction. If our intended audience is not relating to our inflexible style of communication, what is our point, or are our words pointless?

Many thanks to those of you who sent me e-mail as a result of my updates on Dec. 24th, 1999. I wish to advise that my e-mail address has changed from jba@intergate.bc.ca to jba@telus.net I hope someone would describe the highlights of the fete 2000 on Feb 5th. I wish I had been able to make it. There was a time when all I would miss would be a Carnival; but now there are all these additional reasons for slipping over for a visit. Not only am I missing Carnival this year but I will also miss the Class of 57 Reunion. If I had a few extra weeks notice I might have been able to do something. As it stands, I love the idea of the reunion taking place close to Carnival. Think - one trip, two important events! That makes it affordable/ added value. Could the organizing committee do something along the same lines for 2001? Noreen Baldwin Alleyne I am looking forward to meeting you again after over 30 years if you still plan to attend the conference in Vancouver. Best Regards to all.

It was very refreshing to find this site and to see some familiar names. Most of my classmates would probably not remember me since I was sort of a "lost child" while at BAHS. I left at the end of Form 4, I believe, in 1975 to come to the U.S. with my family. Greetings to all!

Hi all, here is the latest news on Adele as provided by her mom, Majorie Beckles. (see below) I am depending on your mailing lists/websites to get the word out FAST. As you know Adele is currently suffering from kidney failure and desperately needs an operation in order to survive. We are hoping by March and at the very latest April we will be able to raise enough funds in order to finance her operation. The Beckles family is very heartened by the groundswell of concern, love, prayers and financial support. I hope that yourself, or representatives from your year group, old school or current organization will be able to assist in this matter. Contributions can be sent to Adele's fund by a bank wire or traditional means with the following information:

ADELE UPDATE from her mom.
Hello
It is very heart-warming to know of this effort on behalf of Adele. As her parents we appreciate the gesture and Adele is greatly encouraged by what you are all doing for her.

At present she does her Dialysis four times a day ,and she is slowly regaining her strength in preparation for her operation. No firm date has been made about that operation bcause we still have not as yet gotten a Donor.

We hope that by April it would have taken place. So that contributions can be made up to that time . Please extend to all who ask about her ,our sincerest thanks for all that is being done as an act of friendship, love and concern. My best wishes to you all.
Marjorie Beckles on behalf of the family.

I haven't been back to Bishop's since VIth form (1981). I was pleasantly surprised to find this site by accident and am interested in BAHS news. I emigrated to Canada in 1990 & have spent the last 9 years working in Strategic Marketing and Marketing Communications. I am now thinking of returning home to live. Am married with a 3 year old son and expecting another.

EMERGENCY! Bishop's Girl needs help!
I just got news that an old bahs girl that some of you may or may not know/remember is in desperate need of an operation. Her name is Adele Beckles, and right now she resides in the U.S.
She needs US$100,000.00 by March. To this end, for those of you in T&T, a Barbecue is being held at British American Carpark on St. Vincent Street, 11am-2pm, Friday 11th February 2000, for $20.00.
I would deeply appreciate it if you could circulate the news among the alumni in your year-group, or any others that you know, for that matter.
We hope to have information soon regarding how to forward any contributions you can make to Adele herself in the U.S.

Well, it's good to see that the website survived Y2K. I see my fellow classmates of 96/98 are "enjoying" snow as I have been doing for the past couple of years now. It would be alright, guys, you shall survive...whether you fall down and feel embarrassed, it would be ok. The only sad thing about it is that the majority of the year is cold, and to reminsce on where we came from......it hurts. TTFN

Thank you, Tannis! If that picture does not pull out group out of the woodwork, nothing will!!! That is the picture that appeared in the Sunday Guardian the Sunday after we returned from Tobago. It was either Judy Henry or Allyson Dolly who called around to th egroup askinh if everyone had seen my famous handbag in the papers! That was some vacation. As I recall that picture was taken at Crowne Point Airport when C.K. Johnson had taken us on one of his familiarization tours. He was a special person. Last July, I met Maria Dillon on vacation in Toronto. As you may recall, she was our "Big Sister" that summer in Tobago, having herself just completed 6th Form. So, ladies of "67-69", now that Tannis has pushed, no shoved you along memory lane, let's hear from you. Love Always, Hazel

Grad Class of 1967
Grad class of 67-69. Remember how we tore Tobago apart with our fab post-GCE holiday. We simply cannot allow these young upstart Hilarians to outshine, outsmart or outdo us. My aim is to stimulate a bombardment of menopausal women onto the BAHS website with linguistic virtuosity, ferocity and comic creation that would send the "Big-up, hip-hop" generation back to the womb for genuine inspiration! But loved reading it all. Sheer nostalgia! Hazel, Margot, Pamela, Liz, Cicely - thanks for being among the first representatives of our era. Will now be eagerly awaiting the rest of our POSSE!!!!!
