NEVER FORGOT THE WONDERFUL EXPERIENCES, GREAT TEACHING,
GOOD EXAMPLES SET BY OUR TEACHERS, AND STRONG FRIENDSHIPS/ RELATIONSHIPS FORMED AT BISHOPS. I NOW HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD GIRL AND I ALWAYS SAY IF I EVER RETURN TO TRINIDAD, I WILL LIKE HER TO ATTEND NO OTHER SCHOOL BUT BISHOPS.

Was home for carnival and had a most wonderful tea at Hilton with women whom I had not seen since I left Bishops in 1962. Thanks Margaret Rouse for organising the get together. It was good to see Brenda Prince, Ann Beckles, Brenda Roach, Margot Lakhan, Jackie Cameron, Genevieve Codrington. Women, you all look great. Also, thanks all for purchasing my book "LaBrea Gyul", hope you all enjoyed the nostalgia.

Hi Barbara! Nice to see your note. Haven't had any news of Celeste Merritt myself. Wonder what she is up to. Haven't been back to T'dad for an awfully long time. I wish more of us would write in more frequently. It is fun to read about old friends. I must give it to you - to remember so many names from so long ago.... we should all make an effort to post recent pictures on here. Now that would be fun :-) But I'll wait for others to start. Actually, now that that I think about it, I don't know if it's a good idea after all ;-)

There is an alumni group in D.C. that is very much involved with our dearly beloved High School. They host functions the proceeds of which go to Bishops. They have even educational trips. Some of the Hilarians from my time like Malvory Payne (?) and Eleanora Nichols(Isles) Roma Aqui (?) Pat Aqui (?) are also involved.Email Eleanora Isles eisles@howard.edu for more info. I have promised to get a group started here in Atlanta very soon.

Can someone tell me if there is a Hilarian chapter in Washington DC. If there is, how can I contact them. I tried to e-mail someone and I am still waiting to hear from them.
Ok so with all this talk of reunion, maybe we should try and set a time scale on it. When is good for the folks who graduated O'level '95. We hitting a 10 year mark. WOW!!! What time of year would make sense for most???

It's really great to connect with past hilarians. I've discovered that no matter which years you attended, once you are a 'Bishop's Old girl". You have a certain "je ne sais quoi" that sets you apart from any other. The years at Bishops was character building and what fine characters we were that excelled in academics, music, the arts, and also in the sports arena. Would like to hear from other proud Hilarians from the years between 1966-1974

I never knew this website existed, but I am happy it does. BAHS had a profound influence on me that I never realised until life became extremely difficult and the experiences came back to give me strength I was unaware I had.
In perusing the site, I saw no familiar names, and I wonder if the girls- now women frome 1964 - 1971 have all disppeared.
Keep up the good work

I should be sleeping like regular folk, but since I came across this page earlier today I have come back ro read more posts. It's really exciting to see posts from people that I have not seen in years. It's hard to believe that's it's been almost 8 years. Yeah yeah, in the whole scheme of things it's not a lot, but when you think that these were folks we spent more daily time with than our parents. It boggles the mind! Anyway, Class of 95 B-Form Patrice, Danielle-Ms TT/Universe 2004, Tracey, Sammy, you'll think we could rounds up the class and have a little 10 year reunion?

Happy New Year everyone!!! Congratulations Danielle Jones!! It was really great to stumble onto this site. It really did wonders to boost my school spirit which, though not dormant, had been in need of some increased contact with more Hilarians. It was such a pleasure getting on to this site after many occasions of asking friends for the address!(and i simply had to go to google search!)Many of my classmates may not know me by this name but in school,I was Ann Marie Granger Class of 1982 B form (Fifth Form) and 1984 (Sixth form )and this is in response to Allyson Ferderick's enquiries! I can't really remember who the person is at this moment if that was the name she used in school, However I know that Rhonda Gouveia is married and lives in Florida with two kids I keep in touch with Claire Murray and Joye Donaldson who lives in Trinidad! Came across Dawn Alexis recently and Leslie John! However have not heard anything about Carol Goindhan in years! What about Gabrielle Hezikiah? Betty lyn Goddard?and the rest of the 1982 B form girls! We desperately need to organise a reunion before we get too old to remember anyone!!! :-)

Thanks for filling me in about Charlene Beckles. It is indeed a great shock. I haven't had a chance to come to terms with this yet. However, my initial reaction is that I would like us to do something, for example contribute to a special fund, scholarship, etc in honor of Hilarians who have passed away due to cancer. I know I am not aware of all of them, but Charlene, and Gillia Chung for example spring to mind. Perhaps other names should be added since unfortunately, I personally do not know of them. My condolences to Charlene's family and friends. The holiday season must make it even more difficult to bear.

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you all know that I'm thinking of you for the Christmas season. For those who know me, I hope you're thinking of me as well! Anyway, seasons greetings to all my friends and teachers and the rest of the staff at Bishops. Anyway, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my fellow Hilarians,in whichever part of the world you may find yourself.

Hi there,
This is for Jere Andrews whose comment was posted on November 25th.
I am a former student of BAHS and graduated eons ago. Your note interested me, as it showed your location as Paris, France.
I know some folks (mid-20's) who are living/working in Paris for the past six months and find it difficult to meet people form of similar background and culture.
Is there some sort of organization or social group that exists for American/West Indian folks living in Paris?
It would be great for them to socialize and connect with people with similar background.
Let me know either way, it would be fun for them.

Hi,my name is Kandie George and I graduated from BAHS in the year 2002.Last month I received an invitation, from People to People Ambassador Programmes, to attend an exciting symposium in Panama City from December 6th 2003 to December 13th 2003.My invitation came as a result of my exemplary participation in the Global Young Leaders Summit held in Australia last year. The total cost of attending this programme in Panama is $5190 US.
On receiving the invitation I sent out many letters requesting sponsorship. One of the replies to my letter was a recommendation to post a message in the guest book requesting assistance from anyone that has the means to help.
This conference in Panama would be another platform to again represent my school and country, dicussing issues that affect nations all over the world. For more info I can be contacted at 625-6744(home) and 686-9160(cell).

I left Bishop's in 1960. Miss Christine Sutherland was Headmistress, Miss Hobson her Asst. My sister was Jenifer who has recently died. I worked as an air hostess for BWIA for a short while & then immigrated to the US. Some of the girls with whom I went to school were, Frances Viera, Jessie Mae Tibbets (from The Caymans), Judy Morris (from England), Lise Stranger (from Norway), Diane Farrell (lived across the street from me). Her sister was Deirdre Farrell.
I was married in 1964 (still married in fact to same husband). I had 2 sons & have 2 grands (with one more on the way). I do genealogy as a hobby. If anyone recognizes these names, please contact me. It was very nice to find this site.

I can't believe I stumbled across this site, Andrea, why are you and I the only ones from our year signing this guestbook?
Well i'm not lucky enough to be a full Hilarian since I spent my first 5 years at Naparima Girls High School which was great but I was lucky enough to spend my last 2 years doing A-Levels at BAHS from 1998-2000.
I had such a great time at BAHS, met some of the greatest people and teachers and am lucky enough to still keep in touch with a few girls from my year since they are at the same University I attend, York University, Toronto.
My time at BAHS was enjoyable and enlightening and I will never forget how the rest of the girls in my year embraced me as their own from the very first day I attended the school till the day I left for University.
BAHS has taught me a great number of life lessons but the greatest was always stay true to your country which I have kept in my mind from the day I stated University in Toronto, and now, 4 years later as I finally finish my degree, I'm packing up and heading home to my dear country, where I belong.

How great it was to discover The Hilarians Website. It sure was fun reading the many comments from our "girls" from all around the world. To Rachel Mapp, USA - Virgin Atlantic is the best, Girl. I had the opportunity of flying with them a few times and it sure beats the rest. Magnificent plane!!! Hey, does anyone happen to know where Kaneeza Karim, Carolyn Chin and Charmaine Kurton are? I have often wondered throughout the years where and how they

I was so very happy to see a BAHS website. I have been on for 3 hours now. Bishop's days was the best! I wish now that I can be that age again and go back and enjoy it with all my friends. Does anyone know what happened to these people; Mrs. Araujo, Mrs Bishop, Mrs Silvers, Mrs Morong, Bidget Bartholomew, carmelita Cupid, gaynelle Abraham, in fact any news of anyone from the A Form of 1981? We graduated fifth form 1981 and sixth form of 1988. Please send me all news. I really wish that we can arrange a reunion. I love and miss all my Bishop's friends so very much.Do you all rememberr choir days with miss Sealey and music festival? I shiver just remembering? Does anyone know what has happened to Miss Mark and my past prefect LeslieAnn Lee Yuen and girls named Kathy Legall and Sharon Duncan? That's all for now. Love you guys.

I just wanted to thank all my BAHS teachers and in particular Mrs. Cumerbatch for her influence on my new career as a chef. I have just completed my Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts degree and I'm off to work for Food Network in NYC for 3 months. Following that I'll be moving Oregon to work for a winery out there....see what 1 little BAHS girl can accomplish if she sets her mind to it. I love you all...:)

I have been observing our site for quite a while. My first attempt to make comments and OOPS! my punctuation format went awry. Here's the amended version that should be easier to read. As I approach the 50th anniversary of my entry to BAHSbeen observing our site for quite a while. My first attempt to make comments and OOPS! my punctuation format went awry. Here's the amended version that should be easier to read. As I approach the 50th anniversary of my entry to BAHS, here are some scenarios that I recall: All Saints church services, Bishops Bazaar, bicycles & bicycle gates, Chapel & Hall Assemblies, Deportment Cup awardees, efforts to attain 70%+ term grade average, fountain pens, Girl Guides-2nd & 14th P-O-S, Glendenings' Stores, Houses-Picton, Raleigh, Stephens, Warner, & Woodford, House & Island Scholars, ink bottles & inkwells, Inter-col, jungle gym, Music Festivals, NO CHEWING OF GUM!!, no eating in public or on the streets, no use of ballpoint pens, on accasional outings-headmistress' proclamation "NO HATS"-What a relief!!!, order marks-4 for detention and someone was keeping score!, school buses from the East that let us off at Abercromby street gates, Sports & Sports day, Teachers'lawn, Tenzing, Rufus, & Vixen, THAT HAT!!, train lime, tuck shop, viewing Sound of Music & Ten Commandments(movies) at Deluxe, Merchant of Venice(stage play) at Roxy, "YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO". I am sure that you ladies have individual views, treasured friendships and memories which have endured throughout the years. Hello-o-o! I prefer ALUMNA(AE) instead of OLD GIRL(S).

OK Ladies of Atlanta, I am calling your bluff! Last year I read a comment from Hyacinth Franklyn-Bovell, realized that she was in Atlanta and promptly sent her an email to the address listed. It must have gone astray, as I never got a reply. So in this public forum, I am writing to you again and including Janice Lawrence-Clarke in my greeting. Of course I would be interested in getting together, forming an alumni group here in GA and generally torturing my 14 year old daughter with additional stories of the wonderful times that she is missing within the unmatchable halls of the Old Bishopa!!!

Thank you Hyacinth Bovel for turning me on to this website. It's great to see a loved tradition cemented this way.
Bishop Ansty High School leaves an indelible mark on those who grace its walls. I'm honored and proud to be a part of that tradition. When I entered BAHS at 11 years old, I vowed that if/when I had a daughter, she would attend BA Junior School and then BAHS. Well, happily, I had, she did, she also passed SEA last year for BAHS (YEAAHH!!!). But she relocated to ATL and was quite miffed about having to "give up her space to someone less deserving". (Her words, I kid you not.) I'm a bit misty about that too, but then one must do what one must...tis true valour!
Meanwhile, does anyone know where I can find Judith Jute?
Love you all. God's eternal blessings to each of you and your families...JL-C.

I have to agree with Joy St Louis, how dear they change Cumberland house color. It seem that everyone is reminiscing so here’s one for you all, the most unique doubles in TNT were to be found in BH tuck-shop. Also dodging those caterpillars that used to crawl around the new building, (I guess its no longer call ‘new’ as it was during my time). Finally, a shout out to the last “D” form, 1982 to 1987, in BAHS. All the best.

I just found this site!! I can identify with Joy's comments about the "house" system and all those creative uniforms on sports day. I was in the Red "Chancellor" house. What happened to Mrs.Araujo,Mrs. Bishop, Mr Harrigan, Ms Prince, Mrs.Hosein,Mrs. Ferguson,Mrs Mc Dowell? I was there from 1982 to 1987. Those tuck shop days were really a unique experience. Also getting reprimanded for talking during assembly became redundant after a while :) After all these years, I am and will always be proud to be a Bishops girl!

Hi Ladies,
Do you remember your "House" days? Poor Cumberland might win a march past or two but never the enitre sporting event? Cero Aripo, just a blur of green? Well, brown Tamana is now black. Brilliant yellow Cumberland is now orange.
I can deal witht he Tuck Shop being "new and improved". I can deal withthe structure that looks like a Junior Sec on my cricket pitch. I have to deal with Anstey house being gone...but I've been in the yellow house all my life! How dare they change it to ORANGE!!! OK, I'm being facetious. But share those memories ladies, the coming generations won't have exactly the same references as you.

Does anyone remember the family who lived in the apartment near the cafetaria back in the late 1970s to perhaps the early 1980s. I believe they were the Tulls, and Mr. Tull was an elderly caretaker of BAHS. They had a daughter named Mary and I believe some other children. Does anyone know what became of them. I don't suppose Mr. and Mrs. Tull are still with us (I would be pleasantly surprised if they were), because they were advanced in age back then. However, I do remember them as pleasant people, whose kind smiles kept me cheerful on a number of occasions when my dad was late picking me up and I was scared out of my wits!!!

Replying to Allyson Frederick....Mrs. Bishop retired from Bishops and teaches at a school called Newhurst. Mr. Gooding left Bishops after a few years and went into private industry. He was so impressed with Bishops that he sent his daughter there! Mrs Wiltshire is retired. Kathleen Stroud was teaching at Bishops (don't know if she's still there). She's pregnant (or maybe already had) her first child. Tha't the sum total of my info! Stay tuned and I'm sure others will fill you in.

Well, I stumbled across this website today and could not believe it. This is going to be so much fun if I ever hear from my classmates in whom I have not spoken to in years. I’ve seen some emails from Danielle Jones and Patrice who were in my year. I remember Kathy Anne, (her twin sister Shelley Anne), Annie, Yaisa, Alicia, Samantha, Nicole, Sophia, Keisha, Sarika, Reshma, Carys, Onami (her sister Keiko) and of course many more. I’m from the class of 1995. And I still keep in contact wit many of my friends from Bishops, and even a few may be attending my wedding next year. Well, I hope to hear from someone. Finding this website must be faith.
Wishing you all the best for the New Year.

In response to Cerny's query, the bush is called "Ti Marie" and the rhyme goes as follows, "Mary, Mary shut yuh door. Police comin' to hole yuh!" At this stage of the game, Cerny, it took two heads to come up with the complete rhyme. I remembered the 1st line and Pamela Hinds-Smith furnished the 2nd!!!

Whatever happened to the following people -- Terry Nicole Carter; Annique Bryant; Gillian Hislop; Manjula Kuruvilla; Nichelle Daniel; Rhonda Goveia; Karyl Kowlessar;
Celia Flatts; Leslie Lee Yuen; Carol Goindhan; Betty Lyn Goddard; Kathleen Stroud -- people who attended BAHS from about 1978 - 1985.
I would love to know how they're doing. Oh and has anyone ever heard from Elena Fletcher; Briony Evans; Tara Fields or Linda Heath?
Also, whatever happened to Mrs. Bishop (a former Vice Principal); Mr. Gooding; Mrs. Wiltshire; Mrs. Cumberbatch and the rest of the teachers from that
era who not only put the fear of God in you, but equipped you with the skills needed to succeed in life!!! I will always be thankful to God
for granting me the privilege to attend BAHS. I'm sorry that my sons will not be able to experience what I was able to at BAHS!!!
