It was great to read about the site in the Guardian newspaper today. I actually forgot about it but I remember that in preparation for the 75th anniversary, BAHS was the first TT school on the net, before QRC and the rest. I am pleased that the Environmental Science Block is finally completed and that Anstey House is being replaced. I know that many lament its removal from our lovely school grounds, but I am sure that the capable principal (Valerie Taylor) the rest of the staff and the Hilarians on the Building Committee are doing the best they possibly can to ensure that Bishops continues to graduate students who can compete against the best in the world. I am looking for Hilarians from 1977 to 1984, and to any others in the NY area. Hope to hear from you all.

Hi Hilarians! My friend Aritha told me about the website. It is great to read so many comments from Hilarians of all ages. But what about the class of '87 (form 5C) and '89 sixth form? Are there any more of us around? Kudos on this website.

I graduated in 1989 from 6th form. My sister Lorie-anne Phillips graduated in 1998. We are proud of being Hiliarians and hope that we can help in ensuring that the true spirit of Bishops lives on..

My time at Bishop's (1981-1988) remains near and dear to my heart. I have lost touch with all but a handful of my old classmates; however, I would be delighted to hear from any of you out there reading this. I agree with the comments made by Alicia Browne about the loss of Anstey House - I still have a t-shirt with a sketch of that beautiful old building with the words 'Save Our Heritage' underneath. Do you remember that walkathon? I cringe every time I drive past Bishop's now. I have to ask this: Does anyone else out there get really annoyed when the press refers to our school as "Bishops Anstey"? Sheesh! How difficult would it be to get it right?! To the maintainers of this site, keep up the good work. To all Hilarians, past and present, keep on making us proud.

It is great to be in touch in this way. I've read the page, and recognised names from my era and the ones after. Congratulations to the innovators. Hi to all of my friends from the old days, the 1960's. BAHS has truly found a page in the History books of T&T.

Hello from the Jamaican who landed in the middle of '85 and graduated with the 5th formers in 1986! Well I must say that even that short time was great even though allayu couldn't comprehend the Jamaican pride and the accent*grin* I have been looking for this page for years and I am so GLAD ( picture my huge smile *beaming* right here) to see a few from my year. I literally have my autograph book from grad time right beside me looking for names remembering faces. I found Janine and I am looking for Arlene Shaw and Frances Welsh to name two more. Maria E. Mason are you there? How about Jill? Lesley-Jo Martin?Luelle? Deborah Jacobs?Urmilla? Look , somebody better email me with enough notice so I can travel from whichever distant part of the planet I may be trekking through to get to a reunion! I wish all of us well no matter what we are doing Housewife, lawyer, artist, writer , doctor, WHATEVER. I hope we can still meet and greet old school friends with genuine good vibes .High school is such a big part of shaping our lives - I am glad Bishops shaped an important part of mine ( to be 16 again!) though I've travelled so many miles. Be well one and all

I love the fact that Iam a Hilarian and that the school is progressing and that finally the science block is up. However we as Trinidadians have absolutely no respect for our heritage and Iam so surprized that my fellow Hiliarians feel the same way. What I am I getting at,one may ask? Old building, the building with the narrow staircase, the Sixth form right of passage is gone. I wrote a thesis on Caribbean Architecture and I wanted to include Old Building, classic example of Imperial Architecture and a building I was connected to and most likely influenced to write the thesis on, but I was too late. Then to add insult to injury I get a 200 Vision booklet for a donation with the old building on it. Have we no respect for heritage maybe the new square may of included motifs of the old?

My mom just forwarded a news letter from BAHS and you don't know how happy I was to learn that BAHS has a web page and ensuring that they are left behind in the Y2K race. It's good to finally get in contact with people left behind so long ago. Keep up the good work BAHS. My only critique is that I would like to see some pictures so I could reminisce about the old days near the pond or under the pommerac tree by the music room. It would also be great to have links to some of the teachers just to say 'What goin on dees days'

Hooray! Hooray! I guess living in Africa means that one is usually last to hear of latest develoments. We, Hilarians do get around don't we. Anyway when I found out recently that BAHS was on-line,I was overjoyed and felt as though I was alone on a distant planet for many years and had finally established communication with my family. So any of you ladies out there especially class of '71-'78 who would like to communicate with me,I,d love to hear from you. So Long. Karen Williams-Hall

Past teachers accepted in this Guestbook?? I am thoroughly enjoying reading the comments and messages. I was wondering if it is possible for BAHS to put photographs on this website to show the beautiful new renovations that have been done to the school in the last year. When I was there in August '98 I saw the Anstey House beginning to be deomolished. I still can't believe it is gone. I have to wait another year before I get to see Bishop's and its changes!

The older (or is it "formerer") I get, the more I appreciate the invaluable contribution that venerable woman made to my life. Congratulations Bishops. This is a great idea. It is wonderful to be able to chat with friends and former hilarians around the world. I graduated from BAHS in 1965 and am working at the United Nations in New York. Last weekend there was a BAHS reunion in Washington on a boat. Coral Braithwaite, Ancilla Howard, Terry Payne and many others were there. I arrived in Washington the evening of the cruise and did attend but had a great meeting with Coral. Ancilla recently joined the World Bank and it is wonderful to have her with us. There are many hilarians in New York and Washington and perhaps it would be a good idea for all of us who are close enough including you Orrella to come together and coordinate on some activity. Love to all.

I am not a Hilarian, but I wanted to say that I know of some of the women mentioned in the "Women of Worth" section and their reputation and I have to say I am impressed with how the entire page was put together...except for the guestbook of the younger generation. I have one question, When did you lose control of the way the young ladies spoke. I certainly hope they don't speak like this in the classroom. I thought I was in the ghetto in New York or Los Angeles. Please reassure me that this is not the way the young people of Trinidad and Tobago are speaking today...and girls at that!

I was told to visit this page by an old old, primary school friend...and I am SO glad I did....I'm currently a film/literature student at the University of Miami and I am LOVING life. Its so strange, but I look back on my high school days with actual...fondness. And to think I hated it so much when I was experiencing it. Bishops taught me so much in terms of how to DEAL with people and how to overcome boundaries, I know that I am a much stronger person as a result of my time there. To the class of 95 and the class of 97, I remember you all...does anybody remember when Kristy Ann Maynard put the sign on Miss Ramsey's car? oh my lord...and when we all pretended to be asleep in Miss Garner's class? Does anybody remember disco ball? if you do PLEASE E MAIL ME...nothing but love to Mrs Patrick (not the food and nutrition one, the literature one...), Mrs Mark, Miss Stroud and Mrs Jenkins...the ones who believed in me...Mrs Bishop and Mrs Aurajo, and Ms. Ruddell...the legend lives on. and special greetings to those from my year who signeed this guestbook, Danielle and Kafi and Ebony and Aisha, we've come a long way, ent?

Well finally I am on the internet highway and I think this is the best thing ever. Now I can actually link up with other fellow Hilarians, especially the ones from the Class of 93. People like Rhea L., Arlene A., Divina C.,Candice B, Kim and all the others whom I have not mentioned, just wanted to say what's up,if any of you ever sign the Hilarians guestbook. I have been on the net for a few years now and I didn't realise we had a website!! I am so proud!! Now I wish I could find some more of my friends from 5th form graduating class of '88 and 6th form class of '90. It would be nice to keep in touch. I pass by the old school every now and then, and boy, I so jealous!! These students have a real nice new building there, I wish it was like that in my time...but great memories nevertheless! When I browsed through the first few guest book entries, I came to realize that, BISHOPS FINALLY DID THE SCIENCE BLOCK! However that was not all I was happy about, finding this website (which i was shocked i had not found sooner, since I am always on my computer) brought back so many memories. I am so proud to see Bishops, finally moving forward with technology, but still keeping alive the Anstey Spirit. I know that the people who graduated with me (year of 97) well wonder why i am being so sentimental, well, there is only one answer, you don't really know what you have until its gone. I doh know why everyone so surprise dat BAHS have a website. I'm surprised that I found it! I am from the '86 (5th. form) and '88 (6th. form) era. Big 'HI" to Denise Goddard-Jones and Michelle Lai Fook, who seem to be the only people from my time who know about this site. Sorry Denise, wrong Janine. I'm happy to see the new Science Block come, sorry to see that gorgeous Pouii tree go (where de chirren go play 'rounders' now?). For the people from my year(s), I am planning a reunion of sorts. If you know of anyone from B form or any other form for that matter, give them my e-mail address so that I can start organising tings. Yes...tings. By the way, this website is ah real borse idea!! Miss Ruddell, if you're out there, I still think you're the best geography teacher EVER! (an tell dem odder chirren dat yuh have TWO d's in yuh name). Prestige School roughneck signing off.

What a wonderful opportunity to take a stroll down memory lane. A very special thank you to everyone involved in the creation of this website. Haven't been able to read all the messages though. I'm in a Chicago suburb and have been able to identify the few Old Hilarians in Chicagoland even before they have identified themselves. What a legacy! Thank you BAHS. Been here since 1970. Still married to KVW of QRC. Three children, daughter-attorney/computer consultant/actress, son-college freshman, daughter-high school sophomore. I've either been raising kids or going to school or doing community work. About to start my third career. Is there anyone out there from the mid fifties? Have kept in touch with a few but the majority of you are missing. Do send a word or a thought. Peace!

This is fantastic!!! Yes, I'm teary too but I'm PROUD to be a Hillarian - Class of '76. At work, we currently have 7 Hillarians. Lots of times we reminisce about Mrs Bishop (our alltime favourite) and joke about our 'proper english' or lack thereof.

Hello from London from both Eve and Terri Cartar. We would both love to have any of our old friends that we haven't been in touch with to email us. We are absolutely overjoyed to be a part of the Bishops environment yet again. Eve is now the happy mother of 2 beautiful children George and Emily. Her law career is on hold as you can imagine her hands are completely full. I am furthering my career in design as an architecture student in September. Hello to all the wonderful teachers that have been a large part of our dreams.

I received the website address recently and am happy to sign the guest book. I am Jean George (formerly Padmore). Like everyone else who has walked the corridors of the school, I believe I attended Bishop Anstey's in its best days. My final year was 1953. I got married within one year after leaving school. Gave birth to two sons, both of whom I am well pleased. My spouse died. Only one son married and gave me two grandsons. I am now "retired" in the formal sense from our Foreign Service, but am indeed extremely involved in a variety of avtivities. Would love to hear from young, old, not-so-young and not-so-old past pupils.

I graduated from BAHS (5th form) in 1984. At that time -- I used to be Nelini Denise Ramsankar. These days, I go by Denise Youngblood (married surname goes better with my middle name...). To be honest, having lived across the globe for fifteen years now, I lost track of the BAHS years in my life. En route to the most eastern end of Asia, I thought about my love of travel, and how it was largely engendered by the BEST Geography teacher in the world -- Ms. Rudell. This brought back a flood of memories and I felt compelled to "search the net" in the hopes that I could catch up on the last several years. I am very pleased that I did! Good luck to all of you other BAHS alumni. Feel free to email me at: denisey@flash.net.

Wow, I can't believe it ... after all these years, finding out about the BAHS Website and going through it is the next best thing to making a trip back to Chancery Lane. I'm from the Class of '76 ("A" Levels) and '74 ("O" Levels) and especially remember Miss Ruddell (where are you?). Whenever I hear Diana Ross' song "Do you know where you're going to" I think of our '76 graduating class - we agreed in that GP class so long ago that that'll be our graduating theme song - do you remember? Anyway ... Robyn Cross, Suzanne Dowdy, Judy Karimullah, Ravina, Sharleen and all the '74 and '76 gang - where are you? I'm married and settled in Singapore for the past 14 years and having a time of my life with four boys!! They say "a mother of boys works from son up to son down" ... I can vouch for that!

Hi everyone, this is a short message asking ALL NY Hilarians to get in contact with me, I'm trying to see if a NY connection can be established for our good and the good of the younger ones to follow us...if you get this, and even if oyu are not in NY but want to be a part of the NY crew, then email me, I'm trying to keep track of us... Congratulations to the Committee on a successful Hilarians fete; believe me, I have heard many say that we have set the trend for the all inclusive!! Bigger venue next year ('cause ah know we could full de Savannah!!) I had so much fun seeing so many people that I have not seen in years, teachers and peers included. This school has truly impressed upon me my worth as a woman in this world. Not surpisingly, the Hilarian pride is an unmistakeable, indelible trait that all of us who have experienced it can't help but show, and all who see it can immediately identify the proud, strong, INDEPENDENT women that this school has produced. Much love to everybody, pray for me and my seven classes this semester!!! =( ...Big up Noriece and Alexia, and everybody else from 93/95. BAHS forever!!(that's what my poster (with my tie and badges) says on my wall in school) Peace, and keep up the good work... Hilarian pride no doubt. Anika
